The President’s Corner:

Happy Spring! It has finally arrived and everyone seems to be happy the long winter is finally over. I see lots of you outside working in your yards and sprucing up. Now is a great time to spring clean outside as well as inside. Curb appeal helps everyone in our neighborhood and keeps our property values up. Drive by your home and look at it with “fresh eyes”.  If you were looking for a home in our subdivision would you want to go inside your home to take a closer look? Remember, trimming overgrown shrubs, pressure washing, a fresh coat of paint can do wonders to the appearance of your home.

 

Our membership discount program was a huge success! We now have over 35 participating merchants/services in the Gulf Breeze area.  If you have not heard about the SRSH membership discount program contact Don Richards or Margaret Cunningham they will be delighted to talk with you about joining and all of the benefits membership brings. Remember, by using your discount card just a few times you can recoup your membership dues! We have had tremendous response for membership so far this year; unfortunately though, we have some 60 families that were members in 2009 that have not renewed their membership for 2010. Renew today and get your membership discount card working for you!

THE BEST neighborhood around.  If you lease your property you can still get an Associate Membership for $25 and reap the benefits of the membership card as well.

 

Color copies of The Tidings are being distributed to all current paid members and black and white copies will be given to the remaining residents and absentee owners who have not yet paid in 2010. 

 

Our next General Membership meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, 8 am, at Tiger Point Golf Club.  We will have a short update from each Committee Chair. Please plan on attending.

Membership and Quarterly Meeting

 

If you received a color copy  of the Tide-ings, we show you have paid your 2010 dues.  A black and white copy means we show you still need to pay your dues!

 

Remember, membership is for all of our residents in Santa Rosa Shores.  Leasees may join our association with an associate membership for only $25 and all local owners may enjoy the benefits and perks that come with your Santa Rosa Membership Card.  Please go to our website and check-out all of the participating merchants and the great things going on in our community, you may become a volunteer for our Association.  Call me or any Board members for more details.  If you have paid your 2010 dues and have not received your Membership Card, contact Don Richards at 404-915-9394 or don_richards@bellsouth.net.

 

Our next quarterly homeowner’s meeting is Saturday, April 24th at 8 a.m. in the Tiger Point Golf Clubhouse.  We will be holding our usual drawing for all 2010 members in attendance, so get your dues in and come to the meeting.  To enter, please complete the red form on page 4, clip it out, and bring the completed form with you to the meeting.  Then drop the form into the bowl for a chance to win!!!  If you only have a black & white form, bring it with you to the meeting along with your membership check and we will get you all signed up!  We look forward to seeing you at our next Quarterly Homeowner’s meeting!

 

As of press time, we are close to 251 paid members for 2010, but one alarming stat is that we still have over 60 residents that paid in 2009, but have not joined our efforts for 2010.  Please do your part and join now!

Canal Committee:

 

We have completed responses to the Requests for Additional Information (RAI’s) for both the FDEP and the U.S. Army COE.  Additionally, we have responded to several letters from “concerned” citizens as required by FDEP and the COE.  We are getting quotations from firms for the Pilot Project and a small amount of dredging which is part of the Pilot Project.

 

We are awaiting responses from the FDEP and the COE at this point.  We are hopeful that a response in the next 30 days will allow us to begin the Pilot Project in May.

Neighborhood Watch:

 

From our Community Watch group - We continue to have petty thefts from unlocked cars left in driveways and on the side of the road.  Lock your vehicles and do not leave garage door openers accessible or leave garage doors up, particularly at night. Remember, the Sheriff’s Department cannot be everywhere – watch out for your neighbors and report suspicious behavior or crime in our area.

Swenson Park & Events Report:

 

 

 

 

Approximately 400 people turned out for the annual Swenson Park Easter Egg Hunt.  All 1600 eggs were taken within 15 minutes and then it was off to other entertainment, games and refreshments.  We even had the adults compete for Easter baskets and that was a riot…they got very competitive!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I want to thank everyone that volunteered their time, local businesses and neighbors that donated baskets and baked goods to help make this event a huge success. Also, I want to thank the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church for all their help with activities and food.  These events make our community stand out...You guys are the greatest.

 

 

The park is on a roll and the number of families using it is increasing.  I am still working on having the exercise stations put in and maybe some new equipment installed.  Thanks for your patience on getting the exercise stations done.

Keep our neighborhood litter free by recycling paper, cans, and plastic containers.  If you need to dispose of styrofoam p-nuts, please do not place them in your garbage can as they tend to blow around our yards and streets.  Rather, drop them off at Mails-A-Breeze for recycling.  Plastic grocery bags and newspaper wrappers can be recycled at Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixe, and Publix.  Keep our neighborhood clean and green.

It’s Your Money:

 

Your Homeowner’s Association is managing your money effectively. As of March 31, 2010, our  income for the quarter was $8,607.03, which includes $8,455 in membership dues.  Our expenses were $4,037.70.   This compares to budgeted income of $7,700 and budgeted expenses of $4,855.  We ended Quarter One with a net income of $4,569.33.

 

 

This first quarter is budgeted as our highest revenue quarter for the year due to membership dues being paid.          

 

Our Association has  Reserve funds totaling $13,893.53 in Swenson Park Account and CD's.
